Robert F. Kennedy quoted Aeschylus to announce the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King on April 4, 1968: “Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God.”
If you were around in 1968, I bet you remember where you were when you heard the news of Dr. King’s death. A death followed just a few months later by Bobby Kennedy’s assassination. It was a very bad year for peace and justice. I am praying that we get through this election cycle with no hint of violence.
We need more Dr. Kings and Senator Kennedys.
